Job Description:

Generation is looking for a City Director to oversee program development for Generation programs in Jacksonville, FL and a smaller operation in Dallas. The programs mainly include launching and monitoring a Retail Career Advancement (RCA) program to help incumbent workers improve their employment trajectory through targeted training, and an overseeing the Information Technology (IT) training program. The RCA program will train 1,200 participants over the course of the next year and will include both in person and digital learning environments. The City Director will manage four primary processes: business development, program operations, team management, and knowledge management. The City Director will report to Generation’s Interim COO and be responsible for the successful implementation of the Jacksonville and Dallas programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive program leadership by:

    • Enhancing, operationalizing, and implementing the RCA and IT vision as established by the Generation USA leadership team;

    • Developing the overall implementation strategy and lead the successful implementation of the retail career advancement program;

    • Collaborating with leaders of various Generation teams to oversee a program capable of training 1,200 Jacksonville and Dallas residents over the next 15 months;

    • Establishing processes necessary to hold individuals and teams accountable to meeting program goals;

    • Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new staff members with the help of the Generation USA leadership team.


  • Oversee program operations by:

    • Managing all RCA and IT program staff including on site delivery team (~15 members) responsible for recruiting and training participants (e.g. program coordinators, mentors, instructors, etc.);

    • Ensuring program is facilitated in accordance with the agreed upon vision from the funding organization, Generation USA leadership team, etc.;

    • Cultivating relationships with employers in Jacksonville and Dallas to manage recruitment of incumbent workers who will participate in the program;

    • Managing relationships with partner organizations throughout both cities to build relationships and gather support (financial and other) to ensure the longevity of the program.

  • Ensure knowledge management by:

    • Collaborating with senior management from various stakeholders including Generation USA leadership team, Generation’s global curriculum team, grant foundation leadership team, etc.;

    • Overseeing a multi-million dollar grant to ensure adherence to deliverables, timelines, and program budget;

    • Ensuring key project outcomes can be evaluated by developing a robust data collection process that ensures participant data and outcomes are easily tracked and stored;

    • Participating in the development of tools, systems, and processes to help continually improve the Generation RCA and IT programs and its teams;

    • Maintaining weekly meetings with our grant officer to provide updates through verbal and written reports.

Qualifications:

We are seeking an individual with team management experience to build and launch a transformative training program for incumbent workers. The successful candidate will lead the program, collaborate with Generation curriculum and digital teams, and ensure the successful launch and steady state operations of our programs within the cities he/she manages.

  • Specific requirements include, but not limited to:

  • At least 3 years of management experience

  • Resides in or ability to travel to Jacksonville, Florida on a weekly basis and an ability to travel to Dallas, Texas on an as needed basis

  • Demonstrated program leadership including a track record of managing program and/or product launches

  • Strong project management skills including managing complex, multifaceted projects that resulted in measurable successes and program growth

  • Ability to use data to drive operations and aid in decision making

  • Ability to manage grants and relationships with funders

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, motivate, and mentor a strong staff

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners and other organizations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details

  • Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with demonstrated passion for Generation's mission and commitment to working collaboratively with a management team of senior professionals

  • A team player who can operate effectively with peers and other stakeholders within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment
