About the Job Manage and perform accounting duties related to the maintenance and processing of accounts receivable, payables transactions and general ledger for a civil construction company. Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee and streamline the (AR) billing, cash applications, cash collections and (AP) payables Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with past due accounts by phone and/or email Monitor payables schedule payables and act as an account liaison by phone and/or email as needed Manage collection of retention monies Oversee Customer and Vendor setup to ensure correct information and terms Escalate customer disputes and collection issues to the management as needed Compile weekly cash flow analysis and perform ad hoc reporting, account analysis Review job cost and billings for accuracy Consolidation of financial reports, financial analysis and other related reporting requirements. Ensure that general accounting records are properly maintained including monthly accruals, journal entries, financial analysis, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, etc. Work closely with the organization leadership to review and monitor internal controls and identify and/or address modifications where necessary. Represent the company at all times in a positive and professional manner to enhance the company's image with current and prospective clients as well as the general public. A proven track record of successfully developing teams, mentoring junior staff and construction community involvement. Demonstrated exceptional communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation Knowledge and Skills: Proven ability to identify issues, areas for improvement and implement processes Experience in AR ,AP and GL in the construction industry Knowledge of job costing and related accounting software (candidate should indicate which programs they are familiar with) Knowledge of AIA Requisition for Payments, retainage and generic invoices Methodical and analytical quick learner with excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service focus Ability to work independently, multi-task, exercise good judgment, and seek additional information as appropriate Strong computer skills: MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word required. Quickbooks and Foundation Software are preferred..
